The Cardinals were a defensive unit that improved as the season progressed last year. And it looks capable of improving even more in 2012. Arizona closed out its season going 7-2 and gave up only 17.6 points per contest in that span. They finished the season tied for seventh in sacks with 42.
A large part of the Cardinals fantasy value comes from cornerback and return man Patrick Peterson. Peterson was a force in his rookie season; he had four return TDs on special teams and two interceptions on defense. Peterson also blocked two kicks.
LB Daryl Washington had a standout year for the Cardinals in 2011 and will look to repeat that performance as well. Washington tallied 107 tackles, five sacks, 11 tackles for a loss and two interceptions.
